More women are noting the hypocrisy of lambasting Rush Limbaugh (no defense for him – yes, any idiot who goes to a school just to protest their health care is a militant nut job but ‘militant nut job’ is where he should have let it go) yet letting left wing people off easy. When left-wing men were using those same derogatory terms, especially about right-wing women, it was okay, especially to President Obama, whose 2012 double standard is taking money from Super-PACs after he said he never would (1), including one with $1 million from comedian Bill Maher, who called former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin a “dumb twat” and a “bimbo” numerous times. Concerned Women for America said Obama should dissociate himself from that ‘vile misogyny‘.
I’m all for plain language, it is just unfair for Limbaugh to be called out for it when no one on the left ever goes after Maher or Chris Matthews or Keith Olbermann. White House press secretary Jay Carney told reporters the president has no direct ties to Priorities USA and cannot tell the group what to do with respect to Maher, they will just take all his money. What an odd policy.
What I would like to see; more than just men being called out as hypocrites. When the National Organization of Women heard that a woman in the Jerry Brown camp called his gubernatorial race opponent Meg Whitman a ‘whore’ did they protest? No, they agreed she was kind of a whore and immediately endorsed him so his bigotry would not hurt his chances of getting reelected.
The woman doing the Meg Whitman smearing turned out to be Brown’s wife. In the end, it seems equal rights and tolerance are only demanded when the person being criticized works for the other party.
NOTE:
(1) His 2008 version was agreeing to public financing and then reneging, leaving McCain stuck agreeing to finance limits (McCain was co-sponsor of the law, after all) while Obama got to spend as much as Bush and Kerry spent in 2004…combined.
